Real People … In their own words … the letter Z

Zap, Zeal, Zest, Zip, Zowie

How perfect that the alphabet ends with such an incredibly upbeat letter! It is so exciting to reflect on the many messages the other letters have given us throughout the year, and I find that I am filled with zeal! Enthusiastically, I look forward to zestfully embracing a new and exciting chapter of my life and adding many more meaningful words to my vocabulary of empowerment. According to Christopher Peterson and Martin Seligman in Positive Psychology, zest is one of the 24 strengths possessed by humanity. As a component of the virtue of courage, zest is defined as living life with a sense of excitement, anticipation and energy.

I almost feel like a superhero after this rapid trip around the sun. ZIP, ZAP, ZOWIE!! Life is amazing in all of its variety, with all of its challenges and in its multitude of choices. I have been clearly reminded of the power that words have to impact one’s mindset. Carefully selecting the most meaningful words helps me stay focused and make better choices more often. These words have helped me rethink, reassess and grow.

I truly hope those of you who started with me have developed your own personal vocabulary and are using it each day to positively impact your life. This has been a joyful journey, and I am looking forward to where life leads us next!
