I am so happy to have attended TOPS Virtual IRD recently. What an inspiring and enjoyable time! Kudos to the IRD Committee, TOPS Headquarters staff, and to our amazing, successful, and dedicated members!
At the start of each session, we received some great tips on staying active — and had fun doing so. Our first speaker discussed setting a series of goals as benchmarks for progress in our journeys and making them “SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) Goals,” because we are intelligent people. President Rick Danforth informed us about the mystery “Case of the Missing Pounds” and what lies ahead in his investigation. The TOPS Medical Panel fielded a variety of member questions and concerns while sharing their wisdom. I talked about the importance of having a strong support system (a front porch) to back you up as you live your life (the game) fully. And our speaker during the final session presented ways to handle stress and anxiety.
So many successes — two years’ worth — were celebrated! State, Provincial, and Overseas Royalty from 2019 and 2020 were honored, along with International Division Winners and Royalty from both years. Those reaching healthy goal weights during those years, Before/After transformations, losses of 100-plus and 200-plus pounds, and successful weight maintenance for up to 56 years were celebrated. TOPS is all about living our healthiest lives!
As the theme of the event suggested: In TOPS, we don’t need to sit alone in our rooms. We can enjoy life’s cabaret every day!
