Real People… Real Mystery

by Carol Micetich

Let mystery have its place in you; do not be always turning up your whole soil with the ploughshare of self-examination, but leave a little fallow corner in your heart ready for any seed the winds may bring.”
Henri Frederic Amiel

How many love a good mystery? You don’t go to the last chapter of a book and read the ending first. That would take away from the suspense of reading the book.

Our lives are like a mystery, too. I grew up in a large family and in a neighborhood with many other children my age. Each day as soon as I woke up, I was anxious to go out and “play”. Each day was a mystery. I never knew what to expect. As I looked back, I see how I learned values: sharing, making good choices, and playing well with others. Life is about the journey and what it teaches you as you work through each mystery with the help of others.

A Chinese Proverb says “To know the road ahead, ask those coming back.”

Our weight journey can be mystery, too. What will be the ending? How long is it going to take to finish that book? If you haven’t finished writing and reading that book, it is perfectly okay. Keep collecting clues. Keep looking for answers. Be open, aware and observant of ever action. Only you are going to know when you are ready to solve that mystery.

Without mysteries, life would be very dull indeed. Our weekly time together is all about solving this mystery. We share clues with others, find answers from those who found their way and keep searching and seeking. Each of us is writing our own mystery. Just be sure to write a “surprise” ending that you will enjoy!

What would be left to strive for if everything were known?”
Charles de Lint

I am really looking forward to how the sweet mystery of my life continues to unfold. Thanks, Carol!
