There have been many times in my life when I was not sure of what direction to take. I firmly admit to the fact that I am “directionally challenged.” Asking for directions was never easy, I always felt I could just figure it out.
The “I will just figure it out” attitude has not always served me well. If I were traveling or trying to find something at the hardware store or what to do to get healthy…I would just try to figure it out, no need to ask for help.
That, my TOPS friends, is the pure definition of being at a CROSSROAD. A CROSSROAD sign to me was never especially useful. Neither was a “You Are Here” indicator on a map. I did not know where to turn and ran the risk of getting stuck on a ROUNDABOUT.
Before I found TOPS, I never really knew how to interpret a CROSSROAD sign. I felt like the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz. Now I know that ALTERNATE ROUTES are available.
In the past, I wish I had been more comfortable asking for INFORMATION. Luckily, with the help of TOPS, I know that although I am always UNDER CONSTRUCTION, I must keep moving forward to my own SPEED LIMIT and not STOP.
Sure, I sometimes YIELD to temptations and DRIVE THRU. I bypass a REST AREA and kick myself when I see the TOLL AHEAD sign.
But now when I see that CROSSROAD sign, I am in a good spot. I have been made fully aware of the DANGER AHEAD sign. I reflect on the numerous MILE MARKER signs I have passed. This gives me the FUEL to help me make that next turn.
I may have followed a DETOUR sign or two, but I am much healthier now at a CROSSROAD than when I started this journey over twenty-two miles (years) ago.
I’m truly enjoying your road signs, I copy a few off and put on the officers table for others to look at and hopefully will start using our on line services.
Enjoying your traffic sign posts as they relate to our journey to life style changes to live healthier and longer. TOPS fights obesity. Thank you. 🎉
I also enjoy the “sign” series of blogs. As someone who does a lot of driving, noticing all the road signs after reading the blogs always has me returning to TOPS. The signs are everywhere and they act like a GPS – always directing me to TOPS no matter how many times I hear it say “recalculating”. Thanks Rick!
Love your sign series!
Good insight!
Great!
