It is very frustrating when, after taking great care in planning to attend an event, verifying the route and allowing for enough time to get there, I see an EXPECT DELAYS sign on the horizon. The delay is completely out of my control. However, the event I so carefully planned to attend will not wait until I arrive. I must find more INFORMATION to hopefully minimize the delay.
As I make a DETOUR or seek ALTERNATE ROUTES, I wonder if this will make the delay even longer. Maybe I can exceed the SPEED LIMIT, however, it is important to remember SAFETY FIRST.
Whether it is a journey to a healthy lifestyle, planning to buy a new home, getting ready for a new job, arranging a trip or yes, scheduling a major upgrade to a website, there will be EXPECT DELAYS signage warning us to have adequate FUEL to complete the journey.
On January 10, 2002, I joined TOPS and never once looked back in the rearview mirror. For 23 years, I have kept looking forward, waiting for the results of my hard work to get healthy. Unfortunately, I neglected this for most of forty-five years before finding TOPS. And I must admit, I expected immediate results. I did not realize that there would be EXPECT DELAYS signs along my journey.
As much as I wanted immediate results, if I get upset and lose sight of my goal, I will be forced to endure SPEED BUMPS along the way, which could cause further delays. If I find myself losing control, I quickly seek a FLAGGER AHEAD sign to point me in a better direction.
Sometimes, it may be best to accept the delay, biding my time in a REST AREA and reviewing the number of MILE MARKER signs I have accumulated.
There will always be EXPECT DELAYS signage in anything we all plan to do. It is what we do during the delay that can sometimes be our shining moment.
