TOPS Healthy Lifestyle: Follow the Signs – School Zone

Realizing that SAFETY FIRST is so important, it is not surprising that violating the next sign may cause some significant issues.

We all know that when approaching a SCHOOL ZONE sign, we are to go slow and follow the SPEED LIMIT. This is to protect the children attending school.

This knowledge was part of the education process we participated in when learning how to drive.

Similarly, TOPS Club, Inc. is the school I attend to educate me on my journey to a healthy lifestyle.

TOPS is a great SCHOOL ZONE. I have seen a lot of misinformation during my journey, especially from those late-night infomercials. Following TOPS signs for a healthy lifestyle has been beneficial.

Members who have been with TOPS for some time already know how enthusiastic Mrs. Manz, TOPS’ Founder, was about education. I am intrigued by her use of the phrase “correcting weight imbalance through education of the public.” Yes, support and accountability are important. However, the third leg of the stool is education.

There are many classes in the SCHOOL ZONE. Some obvious ones are TOPS News and the TOPS Member Area of the website (currently being renovated). We have all sorts of videos and past TOPS TALKS on our YouTube channel too. Please consider subscribing.

Another class in the SCHOOL ZONE is the opportunity at the chapter level, both in-person and virtual, to review material on various aspects of obesity and causes of weight imbalance. I really enjoy meetings that are entirely consumed by a program. Yes, contests and chapter business are important, however, the time allotted should be a small percentage. The next generation of TOPS members are looking for good lessons to help them on their journey.

Online chapters have a facilitator reviewing educational materials. These online facilitated meetings are recorded and can be viewed by any member for extra information and support.

The challenges of being obese are daunting, and new information is always being reported. For this reason, TOPS held its first Global Health Forum in August. This proved to be another great class in the SCHOOL ZONE to fulfill our founder’s quest to educate the public on weight-related issues. The next Global Forum will be held in 2026.

A good education can be costly. However, receiving a bad education may be worse. A recent addition to our SCHOOL ZONE is a new and ongoing campaign called TOPS Fights Obesity. You can help TOPS by checking out this page on the website.

There is plenty of room in the VISITOR PARKING area to get valuable INFORMATION. Remember to obey the TOPS SCHOOL ZONE sign. Go slow, follow your SPEED LIMIT, and in no time, you will be adding to your MILE MARKER count.
