Happy Monday!
I’m coming to you with some exciting news this week — if you’ve been a TOPS member any time in the past 10 years, but you dropped off at some point (hey, we get it! Life happens), we’d love to have you back. And we want to make it as easy as possible for you to return to us. We used to have a TOPS Rule on the books that said if it’s been longer than 3 years, you’ll have to pay our $49 (USD) new-member fee, you were likely assigned a new member number, and, quite frankly, the process wasn’t as seamless as it could have been.
We’re hoping to change all that, right about NOW.
We do realize, by the way, that it might not be you who stopped paying membership fees and attending meetings. Maybe you had a spouse who was really into TOPS, until life kind of “got in the way.” That tends to happen! Or perhaps it was a neighbor who lovvvvved attending chapter with you, until the timing no longer fit into her schedule. Regardless of the circumstance, TOPS understands, and wants to welcome back any and all past members.
If that’s you, then you’ll get your same member number back, you can pay the renewal rate of $37 (USD), and start paving that path once again toward a happier, healthier you.
The only thing I want to call out, is that if it’s been longer than 10 years, unfortunately, that’s where things get tricky. Simply put, there’s a good chance you’re just no longer in our database anymore, so you will have to start from scratch. We’d love you back, of course, but from a record-keeping stance, it’s hard for our system to keep information on hand for EVERY single member we’ve ever had over the course of our 75+ years!
If you have more specific questions about what this means for KOPS status, weight charts, or ANYTHING else tied to this change, I recommend contacting your local Field Staff. Or, email wondering@tops.org, and we can route your question to the correct person.
I’m mostly just the messenger here, but it’s important to my team that we can win people back.
Almost every time I talk to a member, he or she has some sort of story about being away from TOPS, even for a year or so, and then coming back to finally put in the work and reach his/her goal.
If you’ve been absent, there’s absolutely no shame in that! Come on back. Now is the time! Be sure to tell a friend.
This is effective immediately, and the L-3 membership application will reflect the change in the coming days. Updates are in the process of being made online, as well.
Yay!
How do I find a chapter. I live in Sioux Falls, SD. My zip code is 57110.
Hi Carol, I see at least 9 options nearby! 🙂 Can you plug your ZIP code into the following page, and find a meeting that best fits your schedule? https://www.tops.org/tops/TOPS/FindAMeeting.aspx
Does this apply to Canada as well?
Sure does! I called out prices in U.S. dollars, but this applies to all TOPS members. 🙂
