‘4 or more’ challenge for May

Last year, TOPS AB 3596 Nobleford celebrated a local event called “Nobleford Heritage Days” with a tribute to 75 years of TOPS — and a mention of how they’re welcoming new members. Great job, everyone! Photo courtesy of Donna Wobick

We hope you’re still working toward your “4 (or more!)” goal for 2024.

If you’re wondering how exactly to attract potential new members, HQ is offering suggestions each month.

In May, we’re urging community involvement to help spread the word about TOPS. There are SO many things you can do here:

  • See about setting up a table or booth at a health fair – if you’re not sure whether there are opportunities where you live, consider checking with any local schools, hospital systems or doctors offices.
  • Participate in a parade – your group could walk together, perhaps help decorate a float for another organization (volunteering is great!), or we’ve even seen one of our chapters “deck out” a golf cart as part of their participation in a local parade.
  • Hand out waters at a local fun run – wearing your TOPS T-shirts, doing this as a club, would be a nice touch!
  • Organize a canned food drive – this is a nice way to give back to the community where you live, plus, you could collect the items at meetings.
  • No matter what you choose, look for ways to publicize what you and your group will be doing. Calendar listings and social media groups (Facebook especially) are a good place to start.

We posted some inspiration last week as well, if you’d like to check that out.

Once you hit your goal, we’d love to hear about it! Shoot me a note at marketing@tops.org, and perhaps I could use your chapter’s story for a future blog.

  1. Awesome ideas indeed. Maybe if a TOPS or KOPS Member has a Facebook Page post TOPS information on your Facebook Page so others can view information. Or share TOPS information through your personal email to others. Maybe leave some TOPS Brochures at your church so others may learn about TOPS. County Extension Offices may let your share TOPS Brochure with Homemakers Groups through County Extension Services. Just a few more ideas maybe you could share.
