Last time I pulled back the curtain and had some fun with all of you by wishing you a good KNIGHT and acknowledging my bad attempts at humor. The next piece to refract on is the BISHOP, which takes a more serious tone.
On the chessboard, each player has two pieces that can only travel diagonally on their own color. A BISHOP cannot jump over other pieces, so the path must be clear to get from one end of the board to the other. This unique move allows a BISHOP to control long diagonals on the board. However, for maximum effectiveness, it requires some long-range planning.
The BISHOP is a great symbol that weight loss and achieving wellness also takes long range planning.

In the game of life, we can wipe the board clean and start a new OPENING. But how many chances can we rely on? Time will eventually catch up. As I have stated before, I was close to not starting a new game. I am truly fortunate to have found TOPS.
In the past, I had made some quick, easy moves and lost weight. I dabbled with other weight loss plans. Although I had success, there was nothing there to help me sustain my POSITION. Those other enterprises treated me like a PAWN.
TOPS has provided me with the perfect COMBINATION of support, education and accountability to work my STRATEGY and avoid a costly HOWLER. I now know that wellness is never a quick fix and takes long-term planning to sustain my progress.
Perhaps this is why I tend to hide behind humor. Subjected to taunts while growing up, feeling hopeless and being told respectfully by healthcare professionals that I was potentially playing my last game are sobering thoughts. Even corny humor was better than dwelling on the seriousness of the ACTIVITY around me. Some of the great, classic comics were large men…I believed they also had scars and relied on humor to deflect the inner pain.
Sure, at times, I have slipped off the board. However, the BISHOP reminds me of my STRATEGY in prepping for the long term. Other weight loss plans may seem content to play checkers. However, in TOPS, I believe we all can play chess because, as Mrs. Manz once said, we are “an organization of people pulling for each other.” TOPS can help you set up your board.

enjoy this post very much i have lived it before I joined tops
Excellent analogy, Rick!
