On a chessboard, the term “ATTACK” refers to an aggressive, coordinated move to gain an ADVANTAGE. The goal is to put a piece in danger and provoke the defense into sacrificing pieces or accepting being weakened.
Early on in my journey to a healthy lifestyle, I never thought I needed to be in ATTACK mode. Sounds a little violent. Luckily, I realize now that the battle against obesity needs to be hit from all fronts. With obesity rates steadily increasing in both the U.S. and Canada, the approach needs to be aggressive.

Taking a lesson from the chessboard, an ATTACK relies on coordination. That was the piece I was missing. I thought I could take on the battle all alone. At times, I figured I just needed to cut back on what I was eating. Other times, I thought I needed to stop jumping to conclusions and actually increase my physical ACTIVITY.
Prior to joining TOPS, I tried many things separately to lose weight. What was missing was a combined effort to have all my ACTIVITY work together. Doing it alone is not a reliable option.
Staying in ATTACK mode for the rest of my life can seem to be a daunting task. But the rewards are worth it. I have shared many times that TOPS has saved my life.
I can refract on many positive things in life that would never have happened if TOPS had not supported me in my ATTACK on obesity. Now, I am approaching my 50th wedding anniversary, I have nine grandchildren who help me see the world from a unique perspective and I am making the rounds in attending graduations.
It is all right to be aggressive to gain an ADVANTAGE and sustain an ATTACK mode to coordinate all your ACTIVITY on your journey to be the healthiest you can be.
Be comfortable joining with others on this crusade against obesity and coordinate together. You made that OPENING move with TOPS—be glad you did. You will never be alone.
