Making the Right Moves with TOPS: Activity

In the game of chess, there are 32 pieces and 64 squares. Each player begins with 16 pieces, properly lined up in a prescribed order on their respective side of the board. However, in the game of life, there are times when I cannot get everything to line up. Quite the opposite, actually—there often seems to be a bit of disarray.

I believe that my battle against obesity and striving for a healthier lifestyle was difficult because I did not understand all the ACTIVITY, or the lack of it.

In chess, the term ACTIVITY defines the mobility of the chess pieces. Each active piece has a better possibility of positively influencing the game’s outcome.

In TOPS, I learned about good ACTIVITY. I now understand that there are plans to follow. The exciting thing is that I get to choose my own play.

It really helps to understand all the pieces. Prior to TOPS, I never fully understood the reasons why I should eat healthily. I was raised on the “finish your plate” mantra, and you ate what was cooked. As I got older, it was about eating fast food fast.

As much as I tried to adjust my life into the neat order of eight rows by eight rows for a symmetrical 64 squares, even TOPS could not help me stop life’s ups and downs. However, TOPS gave me the moves to help control my ACTIVITY, so the difficulties were manageable.

Once I made my OPENING and understood the necessary ACTIVITY to do, I started making the right moves with TOPS.

I have played many games on my journey, wiping the board clean when I stumbled. Each time, I tried a new OPENING as I kept mastering more moves. Knowledge does not come easy and it takes patience and effort. Luckily, there are many Grandmasters in TOPS for support and sharing.

I am looking forward to sharing my moves in TOPS by using 16 pieces from the chess game. Yes, there are 32 pieces, but I can only control my side of the board (life).

What will your next move be?
