However, it is important to understand that the accuracy of how many calories you may (or may not) be consuming\u2014or burning while exercising\u2014is&nbsp;an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/health\/nutrition-labels-may-not-be-as-precise-as-they-seem-research-suggests?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=allhealthy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>approximation<\/em><\/a>. Some sources can provide more reliable data than others, like&nbsp;a fitness&nbsp;tracker&nbsp;you\u2019re&nbsp;wearing versus the calorie counter on a treadmill&nbsp;you\u2019re&nbsp;walking on.&nbsp;The same is true in terms of how&nbsp;much energy you are biologically&nbsp;expending&nbsp;throughout the day in general.&nbsp;Surprisingly,&nbsp;many of us&nbsp;are not&nbsp;as&nbsp;active as we think we are.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.harvard.edu\/heart-health\/how-much-do-you-sit-stand-and-move-each-day?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=allhealthy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This 2023 study<\/a>&nbsp;revealed that the average middle-aged adult spent a combined total of 18.1 hours a day sleeping and sitting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.tops.org\/wellness-wednesday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/diana-polekhina-OpB7gkQY9oc-unsplash-1024x590.jpg\" alt=\"How many calories should you aim to eat in a day?
