Especially when you consider how many people are already trying to decrease their stress levels long before the holiday season begins. According to research conducted by the<a href=\"https:\/\/adaa.org\/workplace-stress-anxiety-disorders-survey\"> Anxiety and Depression Association of America<\/a>, \u201cSeven out of ten adults in the United States say they experience stress or anxiety daily, and most say it interferes moderately with their lives.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why I have compiled the following list of free fitness apps and online resources that can be used to stay physically active during what is, for many of us, the busiest time of year. Those who spend most of the holiday season alone may also find these tools helpful to alleviate anxiety and sadness due to feeling isolated or grieving the recent loss of a relative or close friend.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.tops.org\/wellness-wednesday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/elena-kloppenburg-erUC4fTtCuo-unsplash-1-Medium.png\" alt=\"Sweat to Destress This Holiday Season\" class=\"wp-image-3779\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.tops.org\/wellness-wednesday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/elena-kloppenburg-erUC4fTtCuo-unsplash-1-Medium.png 640w, https:\/\/blogs.tops.org\/wellness-wednesday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/elena-kloppenburg-erUC4fTtCuo-unsplash-1-Medium-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.tops.org\/wellness-wednesday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/elena-kloppenburg-erUC4fTtCuo-unsplash-1-Medium-615x410.png 615w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fitonapp.com\/\">FitOn<\/a>: I first discovered this extensive library of free fitness content during the initial quarantine phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. The workouts include stretching, mobility exercises, Pilates and more \u2014 plus consist of a variety of lengths (some even as short as 10 minutes).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.clearskyapps.fitnessfamily.Run5K&amp;hl=en&amp;gl=US\"> Couch to 5K Runner<\/a> and the<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/gb\/app\/nhs-couch-to-5k\/id1082307672\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/live-well\/exercise\/get-running-with-couch-to-5k\/\">NHS Couch to 5K<\/a> apps both let you select the run or walk distance goal that you are aiming for, and then track your progress. Each also has a version that Apple and Android users can download.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/seniorplanet.org\/virtual-fitness-wellness-events\/?gad_source=1&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiA9IC6BhA3EiwAsbltOCgf_r9q_wE3lyExc1Fvx1xzYQRgWabUbPGFPvpuY6Y-rNxY7O5W_hoCYVgQAvD_BwE\">Senior Planet<\/a> offers live wellness sessions produced by AARP. Chair yoga, meditation and functional movement are examples of the regular classes the organization broadcasts daily.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canr.msu.edu\/tai-chi-for-arthritis\/#:~:text=MSU%20Extension%20Tai%20Chi%20for%20Arthritis%20and%20Falls%20Prevention&amp;text=Tai%20Chi%20for%20Arthritis%20and%20Falls%20Prevention%20combines%20slow%20movement,posture%20while%20helping%20prevent%20falls.\">Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention and Walk With Ease<\/a> are virtual and in-person programs provided by Michigan State University Extension. They also have a few simple Tai Chi chair-based exercise clips which can be viewed on YouTube.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL8L1OU8R9KawmeMXl2viUvYtwbgDep8Sz&amp;si=LWrjUhTUxPDZrPh9\">TOPS YouTube Channel<\/a>: For over 18 months, I have been creating a variety of fitness content which includes strength training, simple stretches and even exercises that can be done without equipment while traveling.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether it is movement, meditation or simply making time to connect more with your fellow chapter members, be sure to keep self-care on your to-do list.
