This sharing can stretch beyond kitten videos, internet memes and vacation photos and can actually be a great way to stay on track with healthy goals. Enter the food selfie. Just in case you\u2019re unfamiliar with social media jargon, \u201cselfie\u201d was actually named Oxford Dictionaries\u2019 Word of the Year in 2013 and is used to describe a self-portrait photo that is typically taken on a smartphone and shared on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Our at-work TOPS chapter recently decided to start sharing our healthy food photos as part of our weekly meetings. We\u2019re currently running a spring contest where points are awarded for making healthy choices. Extra points are given if our food photos are food selfies (check out my attempt at a food selfie below). Now, this may seem kind of silly, but it\u2019s a chance to have fun with healthy eating and not take ourselves too seriously. After all, if you\u2019re not enjoying the healthy choices you\u2019re making, it\u2019s pretty hard to stick with them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-279 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.tops.org\/wellness-wednesday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/maggie-food-selfie-223x300.jpg\" alt=\"Maggie Food Selfie\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.tops.org\/wellness-wednesday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/maggie-food-selfie-223x300.jpg 223w, https:\/\/blogs.tops.org\/wellness-wednesday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/maggie-food-selfie-112x150.jpg 112w, https:\/\/blogs.tops.org\/wellness-wednesday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/maggie-food-selfie.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So the next time you make a healthy meal and think, \u201cThat looks pretty enough to take a picture,\u201d go for it. Pose with the food if you\u2019re feeling photogenic. Feel free to share it with others as a way to stay motivated.
