If you were sick of feeling fat and out of shape, and the only time you could get to the gym were at 5 AM on freezing winter mornings when you were all snuggly in bed….would you go? If you made the decision that you were going to reach your goals, you would do whatever it took. If you merely wanted to, but had not made the firm decision to, you would roll over and begin convincing yourself that your life is fine just the way it is.
So often, we say we have made a decision when what we have really done is signed up to try until it gets too uncomfortable. If you have not made that strong, firm commitment, then, the moment it gets hard or expensive or puts you at risk of looking silly, you will probably quit. Indecision is the pathway to being stuck within the boundaries of what is safe and familiar. If you are going to push through major obstacles to reach your goals, you can’t just want to; you need to be completely committed. You need to have the audacity to be honest about what you want, do what is necessary to attain it, believe it is available regardless of any evidence otherwise, and go for it!
In order to start living your life in a way that you have never lived before, your faith in what is possible must be greater than your fear. However easy or rough the process, you have to be willing to fall down, get up, look stupid, cry, laugh, make a mess, clean it up and not stop until you get there…no matter what! There will be plenty of times when you get a brilliant idea and it temporarily fails or pushes you into uncomfortable territory. It is at that very moment when you must make the decision to proceed to succeed.
I care, Barb

We do have the thought plans to get in shape until it gets hard or boring to us. We just have to have that true desire to want to get healthy and stick to it.

I set some short term goal and one for a month. (That a long term for me!) I have been doing great until I got sick this week n lost my focus. So I didn’t meet the weekly goal…one out of four is not bad…the over all month is not over and I still have a week to make up for it! Yes I can…just focus and do!
Thanks! Lori

Thank you Barb. Commitment to yourself is very important. Having faith in what you can achieve is important. My KOPS mentor always told me to FOCUS and that is when I achieved my goal.

I agree. I have also been talking and not walking. Time to put up or shut up.
